Real Cooking

Welcome to Real Cooking!  This a website dedicated to real food for real people.  By real food we mean true, quality cooking without shortcuts or frills.  This isn't say the food is complicated by any stretch, but the focus here isn't on cooking in 15 minutes or using only a handful of ingredients.

Good food is interesting, flavorful, and most of all fun.  It doesn't take much effort at all to learn the basic skills to make absolutely fantastic meals at home for your family and friends.  It doesn't take a huge amount of effort either to make the jump from mediocre cooking to very good cooking.  Little things make all the difference.  The point of this site is to provide some information on how to make that jump and make unbelievable meals in your home.

Variety is truly the spice of life.  Try new things, be adventurous.  Cooking doesn't have to be a chore, something to be done after a long day.  It can be a creative outlet and something to look forward to doing.
Plan ahead and you can make 3 or 4 days worth of great meals in one day.  Or plan ahead the night before and you can have a superstar dinner on the table the next night in 30 minutes.  Food is something that brings us closer together, don't miss an opportunity to bring your family and friends together and enjoy life!

Unlike many food sites out there, this one is more than just a collection of recipes and some reader reviews.  While those sites have their place and their uses, we wanted to go beyond the recipes.  We wanted to go beyond just the ingredients and respect the role that food has in all of our lives.

Think about your life and your best memories.  Take a good look at what a role food has played in your life and your memories.  Whether is be a great Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, or the Sunday Lunches you had as a kid, or family barbeques, or just the first time your mother or grandmother let you help cook a treasure family recipe.  Food is a universal.  No matter what religion you are, what country you are from, what language you speak... we all eat, and we all are passionate about our favorite foods.  As the world gets smaller, our cuisines overlap more and more, which is a good thing.  So don't be afraid to try new things and most importantly, COOK!
